Improving zinc and copper delivery for subirrigated greenhouse-grown pot chrysanthemums

چکیده

Moderate levels of zinc (3.50, 1.75 or 0.875 ?mol·L ?1 Zn) copper (0.75, 0.38 0.19 Cu), in combination with a complete suite other essential nutrients, were supplied up to flower bud break only, two cultivars subirrigated, potted, pinched chrysanthemums. Market-quality plants produced sufficient leaf-zinc leaf-copper even though the delivery respective nutrient could be reduced by 75% compared an industry standard. These results are interpreted as evidence for improved uptake efficiency decreasing Zn Cu delivery. Our modified practice contribute low-input production floricultural crops.

Influence of Spray Application Technique on Spray Deposition in Greenhouse Ivy Pot Plants Grown on Hanging Shelves

As a result of the decreasing availability of authorized plant protection products, adequate pest control becomes more difficult in many ornamental crops and almost no information is available about the optimization of spray application techniques in ornamental crops. Yet, spray boom systems—instead of the still predominantly used spray guns—might improve crop protection management in greenhous...

Growth and Photosynthetic Response of Pot-in-pot-grown Conifers to Substrate and Controlled-release Fertilizer

Container production of landscape conifers, including pot-in-pot (PIP) production, is increasing relative to field production in the northern United States. Because much of the research on PIP has been performed in the southern United States, this study focused on characterizing the growth and physiological response of PIP-grown conifers to fertilizer and substrate to improve production for gro...

Solution-grown zinc oxide nanowires.

We review two strategies for growing ZnO nanowires from zinc salts in aqueous and organic solvents. Wire arrays with diameters in the nanoscale regime can be grown in an aqueous solution of zinc nitrate and hexamethylenetetramine. With the addition of poly(ethylenimine), the lengths of the wires have been increased to 25 mum with aspect ratios over 125. Additionally, these arrays were made vert...
